What are the remedies for a burned tongue

A burned tongue is a rather common but minor problem that everyone experiences once in a while. No real treatment is needed for a burned tongue, unless the burn is particularly severe, in which case you should probably seek medical attention rather than attempting to treat it yourself using home remedies. For a mild burn to the tongue, you can take some simple measures to soothe the burnt sensation; apart from that, nothing is necessary as the tongue will heal on its own within a week. Basically you just need something cold on your tongue — placing an ice cube on your tongue for a few minutes will help. You can do this a couple of times a day, and in addition, sip cold water through the day whenever you feel the need. Ice cream is equally effective, and probably more fun, at least if you enjoy ice cream. If your tongue continues to hurt or feel weird for more than a week, visit your doctor.

If, by any chance, you are referring to the condition known as burning tongue syndrome or burning mouth syndrome, and not to having burnt your tongue with some hot food or drink, you should consult your doctor, as the causes can range from infection to diabetes to a deficiency.
