  • Boil some water in a container and cover your head and face with a towel. Now, bend over the boiling water and inhale the steam for 7 to 10 minutes from your nose and mouth. Do this for 3 to 4 times daily. This will help the mucus to come out from the mouth and nose and clear the nasal passages. You can either use plain water or put a few drops eucalyptus oil to it.
  • Boil 2 tsp of the seeds of Bishop's Weed (carom seeds) in 3 cups of water till it reduces to 1/3rd its quantity. Add 1 tsp of honey or a lump of jaggery to it and drink it twice a day. This will warm the passages and aid mucus release.
  • Drink some hot broths like vegetable and chicken soups mixed with lots of black pepper, hot chocolate etc.
  • You can also try having 1 or 2 tsp of horseradish sauce to get immediate relief.
  • Add 1/4th tsp of common salt to 1 cup of water and boil it for sometime. Now, pour this solution when it becomes cold in a clean nasal spray bottle and store it. Pour around 7 to 8 drops of this saline solution in each nostril 3 times a day.
