treatment of dry socket

Dry socket is one of those very painful things that almost everyone experiences at one time or another, since it affects one in five tooth pulls world wide. Just because it is common, does not make it any more pleasant to deal with. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to relieve the pain and deal with the infection.

Make a plug out of fresh yarrow leaves and pack this into the hole left by the tooth. If that is too painful, you can pack the yarrow into your cheek right next to the infection and keep it there. Change the plug every two hours. Be sure to brush your teeth thoroughly and gargle warm salt water between changing plugs to help with the infection and to keep your mouth clean. Taking Echinacea capsules and White Willow Bark will relieve the pain and fight the infection quickly. Avoid foods that get stuck in your teeth/gums and be sure to brush your teeth and gargle salt water after each meal to make sure nothing is caught in the hole as this will cause the infection to get worse and the pain to be very bad. Drinking warm herbal teas of any kind can help sooth the area. Avoid drinks that have sugar in them because this can make the pain and infection worse.
