Prevention fron Sepsis

There are ways to prevent sepsis. The first step to preventing sepsis is to prevent infections. Most cases of sepsis are caused because of negligence at the time of surgery. However, with the proper personal protective equipment, doctors can minimize the chances of infection. Doctors are advised to use disposable gloves, masks and safety goggles to prevent the spread of airborne pathogens and any other kind of microbes.

For patients who are suffering from long term illnesses such as cancer or tuberculosis, or any other diseases which may affect the immune response of the body, doctors recommend an anticipatory dose of probiotic foods and antibiotic medications. Such patients should also keep themselves protected from all kinds of infections because their immune system may not be able to take on such infections.

Hospitals may need to maintain better hygiene standards and remove garbage and infected objects immediately. They should also sterilize all equipment being used.
