BrainThe skull encloses the brain, which is the central nervous system, and this is so that a human is protected from brain damage or brain injury.
The brain anatomy in human beings differs to that of animals in more than one or a couple of ways. A huge difference would probably be the advanced skills, especially cognizance. This is a simple reason why human beings possess abilities where animals are incapable. The Cerebral cortex possesses the neocortex and this is where human encephalization is noticeable.
Five significant brain functions and components work as one in the human brain. The cerebrum is known to be the biggest part of the brain, because it contributes around 85% of the brain’s weight. It’s the part that allows the human being to reason and think. It has two divisions, which is located on either side of the head.
The right half of the brain controls the left side of the body, and vice versa. The cerebrum consists of a cerebellum and this is found behind the head. It’s small but when it comes to balance, muscle coordination and movement, the cerebellum is important.
Another small part of the brain, but equally important is the brain stem. This is what helps keep the body alive, like digestion, breathing and blood circulation. This controls the muscles in the heart and stomach.
The pituitary gland is a part of the brain that releases different hormones, especially growth hormones.
The hypothalamus is in charge of choosing the right temperature for the body.
The way the brain works is by receiving signals by the means of nerve endings. Body reactions occur when signals are handled in the central nervous system. Thereafter, the important muscles will receive these signals and an action will take place.
Brain tumors affect people everyday. The abnormal growth of cells will eventually turn into a mass.
There are two types of brain tumors, primary and secondary. The primary brain tumor usually grows in the brain itself. A secondary tumor is usually cancer that forms in other parts of the human body, which eventually reaches the brain.
Another condition is Alzheimers disease. It occurs more often in elderly people, especially those in their mid-60s and up.
What causes Alzheimers disease is the worsening of brain tissues, especially healthy brain tissues. This condition causes loss of memory and also decreases abilities, mentally and physically. A study continues to find treatment for the condition since there is no cure yet. One will never be alone when suffering from Alsheimers disease. There will always be support. |
