This is a frustrating condition and like many skin problems, look at your digestion, indigestion and rosacea are connected and improving your digestion through taking digestive enzymes and increasing your fibre intake, by eating whole grains and fresh fruit and vegetables, and reducing sugar and foods high in fat, is an important factor in overcoming rosacea. Some foods that are known to aggravate this particular skin condition are chilli, spicy foods and fried and excessively oily foods.

Topically, use a sunscreen whenever you are outside as UV light is known to aggravate rosacea and a good combination of herbs to sooth the skin is what I call my General Healing Antiseptic:

  • Golden Seal - 20ml
  • Calendula - 20ml
  • St Johns Wort - 20ml
  • Sage - 10ml
  • Marshmallow Root - 20ml (or Comfrey root is even better if you can get it.)
  • Witch hazel - 20ml

NOTE: this is a topical lotion only and can be applied under a low allergenic moisturizer. Apply to the affected area up to five times daily. And remember that if your symptoms are not improving, seek advice from your health care practitioner.
