Home remedies for cough in toddlers

There are several cough suppressants you can use in and around the home. Grape juice is known to be one of the most effective cures for taking care of stubborn coughs. You can add a teaspoon of honey to it for healing purposes also. It should be taken twice daily. Hot milk with a teaspoon of turmeric powder also helps suppress coughs, and the turmeric powder also heals sore throats. One freshly ground black peppercorn mixed with a teaspoon each of honey and lime juice helps reduce the duration of each coughing session. However, please remember that the child may not be able to take the pepper powder, so do not force this remedy. Onion juice, a good expectorant, mixed with a teaspoon of honey, will help with the cough as well as loosen mucus. If your child likes the taste of holy basil, make an infusion of tea, holy basil, anise seeds and honey and make him drink it while it is quite hot. This is an excellent remedy for suppressing cough. Warmed carrot juice helps relieve raw throats and may be given intermittently during the day. You can also pop a green cardamom in the child's mouth and ask him to suck on it. He will enjoy the flavour, and this will also help ease his throat. Make sure you do not give sugar to the child, as this will aggravate the cough.
