Dry itchy feet are often caused by a dry skin infection. This problem is most common during winter when sebum production is less and your skin tends to get excessively dry. It is important to cleanse your feet regularly and moisturize them as well in order to prevent dry itchy feet.

There are several home remedies for dry itchy feet that you can use to get rid of your problem. You will need to follow a foot care regimen on a regular basis in order to get rid of the infection before it spreads. Tea-tree oil and Margosa oil are very effective anti-microbial agents. However these oils are also very strong and need to be diluted before you can use them. Mix two drops of tea-tree oil with 5 drops of Margosa oil. Add two teaspoons of olive oil or jojoba oil to this and pour this blend of oils into a small bottle. Fill a small tub with hot water and add five drops of the blended oil to the water. Soak your feet for about 20 minutes and then use a brush or a pumice stone to gently scrape the dead skin off your feet. Bacteria and fungus are often present in dead skin and so scraping off the dead skin on your feet will effectively get rid of them. Make sure that you use a soft brush to clean your toenails well as this is another breeding ground for microbes. Once your feet are clean, you can dry them with a towel. Add two drops of the blended oil to your moisturizing lotion and later your feet well. The best time for this pedicure is just before you go to bed. You can then wear a pair of thick woolen socks so that the lotion will not dirty your sheets. When you wake up in the morning, you can rinse your feet well with cold water to get rid of any excess lotion. Make sure that you do this at least twice a week for quick results.

If you use closed shoes, make sure that you wash your shoes regularly. You can also apply a generous amount of an antimicrobial powder to your feet. These powders are easily available over the counter at any pharmacy. Make sure that you wash your feet well every night before you go to bed. You can also add a few drops of the oil to your moisturizing lotion and apply this to your feet every night before you go to bed. If you find that the symptoms have not disappeared within two weeks, visit a dermatologist as you may have a more serious skin condition.
