White heads often afflict people with an oily skin. Your body produces an oil called sebum that acts as a moisturizer and prevents your skin from drying. This oil comes to the surface of your skin through your skin pores.
There are times when these pores may get blocked by dead skin cells and this prevents the sebum from coming to the surface. As the sebum collects, a whitehead is formed. Since you have oily skin, you will need to cleanse your skin well in order to prevent blackheads. There are several home remedies for whiteheads that you can use to get rid of this problem.
Home remedies for whiteheads are very effective in eliminating this problem, provided you use them regularly. Before you try to remove the blackheads, you will have to loosen them up. Steaming is a very effective method of loosening up blocked pores as the steam helps to soften the blocked sebum and allows it to slide out easily. You should steam your face for at least 15 to 20 minutes as this will ensure that the steam works its way right into your pores. It would be advisable to add the juice of half a lemon to the water after you take it off the heat and just before you steam your face. Lemon juice is acidic in nature and will help to dissolve the sebum which makes it easier to get rid of the blackheads. You can use a blackhead remover to slowly extract the whiteheads. Do not use force when extracting them and if they are stubborn, you can just steam your face one more and try again. Once you have removed as many of the whiteheads as possible, you can apply a face pack for whiteheads made out of Fuller’s earth and tomato juice. Fuller’s earth will help to absorb the sebum within your skin while the tomato juice will help to nourish your skin, dissolve sebum plugs, and tighten your skin pores. Once the face pack has dried completely, you can rinse it off with warm water. Add a drop of lemon oil and two drops of wheat germ oil to half a cup of water and use this as a last rinse. Wheat germ oil contains several nutrients that are essential for healthy skin and the lemon oil will help to reduce skin sebum levels. You will need to do this once a week to see visible differences within a month.
