This herb might be helpful. Boswellia also known as Frankincense is an herbal resin that is said to drive out the cold from painful and stiff joints and replace it with a feeling of warmth, movement and flexibility. Numerous scientific studies show a remarkable "anti-inflammatory" effect from Boswellia.

How long are you suffering from arthritis? You have mentioned "No cartilage in some joints". If suffering for a long time, home remedies might not prove that effective. Nevertheless, try these remedies:
- Two teaspoons of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey mixed in a cup of warm water, is taken twice a day for curing arthritis.
- Take chondroitin sulfate 700 mg. a day for strong joints and ligaments.  Take it with the advice of your physician.
- Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with warm water should be taken twice a day.
- One raw clove of garlic every day for 3 months is very beneficial.
- Vitamin E protects joints and improves mobility.
