Home remedies for tooth cavities

Since you've quite clearly stated that your tooth has a big hole, in other words a cavity, it would only be natural that you would experience a great deal of pain, particularly when eating certain foods. I would strongly urge you to visit a dentist, as this is an extremely well known and common condition that can be treated very easily, but if neglected can turn quite serious. A cavity that is not treated appropriately or neglected will most likely result in loss of the tooth. Loss of your tooth is only the tip of the iceberg. In most cases tooth loss due to neglect will also lead to destruction of the nerves and give rise to an abscess. This is an extremely serious problem as it infects the root tip and can even spread to the other teeth. A spreading infection could therefore lead to loss of teeth and in some cases an abscess can even be fatal.

A visit to the dentist can be quite hard on your wallet, which is why dental and oral hygiene should be of the utmost importance so as to avoid the need for dental treatment. Tooth decay and cavities are caused mainly because of poor dental hygiene and dietary habits. Once the damage is done however a visit to the dentist is unavoidable and any further delay or experimenting with suspect remedies can only lead to a worsening of the problem and further delays. This will only make the problem harder to treat, a lot more serious, and not to mention a lot more expensive. Make it a point to visit your dentist right away to get the cavity taken care of. In the meantime you can use these natural remedies to relieve the pain.

  • Make a garlic paste and mix in some rock salt. Once mixed thoroughly apply it on to the affected tooth to relieve the pain.
  • You can also apply a few drops of vanilla extract on to the affected tooth for some quick relief.
  • Apply some eucalyptus oil on to the cheek where the tooth is located, and lie down, with a paper towel placed over the cheek. This should help relieve the pain.
  • Make a paste with vinegar and bark of bay berry, and apply it on to the affected area to alleviate the pain. This will also help to strengthen the gums.
  • A gargle with warmed salt water and lime added can offer significant relief.
