How to heal a vaginal sore caused from scratching?

One of the first questions that have to be answered here is whether your yeast infection has completely gone into remission. If this is the case then treating the sore will be quite easy and you just need a bandage over the area of the sore. However, if you still have a yeast infection then the treatment involves applying antifungal and antibiotic creams on the area to avoid a spread of the infection. In both cases, the treatment options available to you can be done at home and with over the counter medications as well.

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus called candida. This is an infection that crops up in some women who might be on progesterone-based oral contraceptives or are immune compromised in some way due to diseases like diabetes. A candida infection is not necessarily acquired due to sexual contact though it is theoretically possible. The disease usually does not affect men due to the high concentration of zinc in seminal fluids that keep things sterile. Curiously, candida is a fungus that exists on every person’s skin and intestinal tract and does not cause any kind of problems except when the body or the normal flora balance is disturbed. This can happen in women who do not consume oral contraceptives as well, due to the elimination of the normal vaginal bacteria, because of excessive sexual contact or use of antibiotic.

The itching that you are experiencing is because of continuous injuries from scratching, as you rightly pointed out. This means that the sore is open and inflamed. What you need to do is to disinfect the area of the vagina and then use a spray on band age over the sore to ensure that it remains sterile. You will also have to mentally control the urge to scratch. In the meantime, you should also try some treatments like application of warm milk over the sore, and using an aloe vera gel, which is a natural bandage. When undertaking these treatments, it is extremely important that you keep the vaginal area completely dry for at least one day. This means even staying at home with no undergarments, and ensuring that the genital area is completely ventilated and dried out. This will allow the skin to harden. Once this happens the natural healing process will begin. If the skin irritation gets too unbearable, rub an ice cube over the affected area till it becomes numb.
