What can I put on a pimple to make it go away over night?

Pimples are one of the most common skin problems faced by people all over the world. While pimples do not pose any real medical complications, they can have a significant impact on a person’s aesthetic appeal. In today’s world, where a person’s looks play such an important role, this can be quite significant and pimples are known to cause a significant amount of social embarrassment as well as mental and emotional distress. The pimple is usually the result of a blockage in the pore that allows any sebaceous oil produced in the sebaceous glands to travel to the upper layers of the skin. A blockage in any of these pores will cause a buildup of oil behind the obstruction and cause the area to appear inflamed. An imbalance of hormones in the body is likely to aggravate the condition substantially. The fact that a teenagers body goes through a number of hormonal changes is the main reason behind the fact that this is the most affected age group. Women are also likely to experience the development of pimples just before their menstrual cycle, also as a result of the changing hormonal levels.

The blockages in the pores can be caused by a number of factors. With the excessively polluted air we live in, it is not uncommon for a microscopically sized piece of dirt to lodge itself in one of the pores on our skin – causing the obstruction. Any coagulating substance spread over the skin is also likely to cause a blockage as it is being affected by over active sebaceous glands which produce an unnecessarily high amount of sebum oils.

Because of the fact that pimples are such a common problem, there are a number of effective home remedies to treat the condition. Applying the juice extracted from a raw papaya over the pimple is known to be very effective as is the application of some amount of honey. Another option would be to take a raw potato and grate it before you put some of it into a muslin cloth and tie it to form a pad. Rub the pad all over the face in circular motions for a period of about 15 minutes and wash your face.  Toothpaste is one of the most widely used treatment options and simply applying a small drop of the paste over the pimple will help draw the pimple out. However, make sure that you do not leave the paste on for too long as it could cause irritation of the skin.
