The basic thing you have to understand about eczema is that it is a result of extremely dry and irritated skin that is basically sensitive in nature. The other thing to know is that if you leave it unchecked, eczema can run rampant and spread like wildfire. In your case, scalp eczema can be effectively dealt with by simply following a few easy methods at home.
To begin with, you should apply pure olive oil to your scalp at least thrice a week. This will be of maximum help in getting rid of your eczema. You should also always use a shampoo that is specially formulated for extra dry hair and scalp.
If possible, it is preferable that your shampoo be hypo allergenic, natural and organic as well. All of these elements will help with catering to the extra sensitivity of your skin. There are also some natural elements that are particularly useful in dealing with the condition of your scalp. Camphor is one of them. You can make a diluted camphor rinse of two crushed crystals of camphor mixed with four tall glasses of water and apply this to your scalp. This will make the skin tingle to begin with, but will gradually ease. Keep adding crystals of camphor to this liquid every now and then. The concentration should be increased, as this will help more and more. But your scalp also has to get used to it at the same time.
Sandalwood paste is also an excellent remedy to use for taking care of scalp eczema. Make a paste of sandalwood with rose water to which a drop of olive oil has been added. This should then be applied to the particularly thick and scaly patches of eczema on the scalp. This will help to treat it effectively and well. You can wash it off once it begins to dry up. Another very good remedy to use for scalp eczema is to apply castor oil to it. But you should wait for some time till the condition of your skin improves to some degree before you start applying castor oil. Castor oil may also break a few hairs, particularly if you try to rub it in. it is very thick and viscous in nature and also does not spread easily. After applying castor oil, you should use the method of hot water fomentation fro good results. Take a hot towel and wrap it around your head till it cools.
