Holistic Health Advice For Toenail Fungus

After a mile run, my toes become very sensitive. Two weeks later underneath the nail bed of the third toe on each foot turned black. what would cause this to happen and how do I get rid of it?

The description you have provided sounds like you have been afflicted with a case of serious toenail fungus. Although the pattern you have described is quite unusual – same toenail on both feet. But there could also be proper scientific explanations for this. It could be that as you have mentioned, the toes became very sensitive to touch. It is possible that for some reason, your body was exerting the maximum amount of pressure on those particular toes. This has probably led to a collection of sweat beneath the nails, particularly in the affected toes. Generally, toenail fungal infections begin when there is excessive moisture trapped between the nail and the skin. This gives it a damp, dark region to fester and grow well. Beyond a point, this becomes a full blown infection.

On the other hand, it could also be that there is no connection between what is happening to your toenails and a fungal infection at all. This is a possibility in light of the information you have provided – that you have experienced a certain numbness in your toes after a run. It is possible that there is a totally unconnected reason for this altogether. The wiser step to take under the circumstances would be to get a medical examination. This will reveal the exact problem and save you from the hassle of trying to guess what could be wrong. Sometimes, there are certain problems with nerves which can lead to things like a temporary numbing of the feet or toes. This can be serious and long term or temporary and short term, but it bears checking out all the same, especially if you are having related problems like the discoloration of the toenail that you have mentioned. For the present, you can avoid your run for a week and see if it makes a difference.
