Dark spots on the face can be many things - to get any kind of specific diagnosis and suggestions for treatment, you will need to provide more information than just a mention of the fact that you have dark spots on your face. If you have had pimples in the past, the dark spots are most likely to be pimple scars. This is particularly true if you have had a severe acne problem in your teen years.
Acne is a common problem for teenagers, and unfortunately, many of them make the mistake of constantly touching their pimples, and even squeezing, plucking, and bursting them. All these habits are simply invitations to infections and subsequent scars. If the dark spots on your face are pimple scars, there is not much that you can do about them - like all scars, they will last for a very long time.
Scars do fade however, so as time goes by, the dark spots will get lighter. If you take care of your skin, it will be healthy and the scars will heal quicker. You should therefore make sure that you drink enough water, keep your skin adequately moisturized, and avoid exposing it to the elements and to pollution.
Another possibility is that the dark spots are sun spots - these are areas that have excessive pigment, as a result of skin damage from excessive exposure to sunlight. Sun spots are typically larger and more uneven than pimple scars, and tend to occur later in life, after many years of sun damage. They too are difficult to get rid of, but if you limit your exposure to sunlight, they should disappear gradually. Once again, if your skin is generally healthy, it will be able to repair the damage much faster. In addition to the measures mentioned above, it might help if you regularly apply aloe gel to your face.
