I have some of the symptoms of UTI but blood/urine tests showed nothing. Is it still possible to have a UTI? Can I take something without a Rx?

UTI Advice and Cures

Sometimes, it is possible that you may be feeling general discomfort and the symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI) without actually having one. There could be a couple of reasons for this. One could be that you are not drinking enough water and so you are suffering while urinating, which is a very strong indicator of UTI. Generally, people who drink very little water sometimes suffer from a burning sensation while urinating, which can be mistaken for a UTI. In any case, the first thing to do would be increasing your water intake to about 10 to 15 liters a day. This will be difficult to achieve quickly, but you must be patient and keep trying.

The second reason you could be having discomfort is poor genital hygiene. Sometimes, we do not clean adequately or well enough and do not even realize this. You should try to change some cleaning habits. If you can, get a vaginal wash and use this to wash your entire vaginal area at least twice a day. This will perform the important function of killing any surface bacteria and fungi. Use toilet paper regularly and remember to wash every time you use to toilet. This will also make a major difference. Also, you must start drinking cranberry juice for about a week, as this is an excellent remedy for your overall urinary tract health.

Urinary Tract infections symptoms

Urinary Tract Infections can happen to anyone, though women are more at risk especially during pregnancy when the body undergoes hormonal changes. It is extremely important to treat a UTI because if left untreated they can become a serious problem especially for the kidneys. There are some simple home remedies to prevent UTI and to ensure they do not become serious. The most important of them all is to maintain strict levels of hygiene especially in the toilet. Avoid using wet, dirty toilet seats and always wipe yourself from front to back after urinating. It is also important to stay hydrated by drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water daily so that the body can flush out the toxins naturally.

If you have a UTI, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of water and drink this to treat the infection and resulting acidity. Blueberries and cranberries also treat the infection due to their anti-bacterial properties. You can sprinkle a few blueberries in your cereal and drink 2 to 4 glasses of cranberry juice for relief from UTI. Vitamin C helps people who are prone to UTI by keeping the bladder healthy and ensuring that potentially harmful bacteria are kept out. Consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C, like tomatoes, lemon and other citrus fruits. Avoid alcohol and caffeine since they irritate the bladder. Remember to wash up before and after making love since UTI is easily transferable. And finally opt for cotton underwear and loose clothing allowing your body to breathe, instead of tight synthetic garments.
