Dark underarms can be quite embarrassing if you are otherwise light colored. Sleeveless and short sleeves are often forsaken to avoid the dark underarm skin from being noticed. The most common cause of dark underarms is shaving; regular shaving tends to give the skin a dark tint.
Friction caused by wearing tight tops or blouses that brush against the skin also cause the underarm skin to darken. Other reasons include excessive sweating, improper hygiene, and strong deodorants with high alcohol content. If you have dark underarms, home remedies that help lighten the skin can be very effective. In fact, when it comes to dark underarms, home remedies work well because they contain no additional harmful chemicals.
How to get rid of dark underarms? For dark underarms, natural cures are best, and the most commonly used ingredient is lemon. Rubbing slivers of lemon on the underarms helps in naturally bleaching and cleansing the sensitive area. You can also sprinkle a little salt on the slices to help remove dead cells, which can also cause the underarm to look dark. If you feel a burning sensation, then add the cucumber paste with a pinch of turmeric powder to lemon juice; this well help ease the burn.
Another dark underarms home remedy involves the use of a paste made from gram flour, turmeric, cream, and yogurt. Apply this paste to you underarms and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then, wash the underarm area with cold water. You can also use milk instead of yogurt for this paste. When applying the past, massage gently to improve circulation and clean the skin. Turmeric is an excellent antiseptic, and it helps in healing any abrasion on the skin. In fact, the use of turmeric is often found in natural remedies for dark underarms. Gram flour is the perfect natural scrub; it helps to clean the area and remove dead skin.
Sandalwood powder mixed with lemon juice and honey can be applied to lighten dark underarms. Let the mixture dry before washing it off with cold water. Rose water can also be added to sandalwood powder. Sandalwood soothes the skin and helps in enhancing the skin’s softness, and honey is an effective natural bleaching agent that works well to get rid of dark underarms. Potato juice or paste can also be applied to lighten dark underarms; potato is a natural bleaching agent.

Dark underarms home cures Skin darkens in places like the armpits because we do not pay adequate attention to them while cleaning and washing. Because of this, dirt and sweat collect in the fine folds of skin present there and over a period of time, the skin becomes dark and unsightly. This is one of the primary reasons for dark skin in the armpits. There are simple remedies you can use to lighten the color of your skin there. Begin by exfoliating regularly. Make an effective exfoliating scrub at home by mixing sugar crystals and olive oil to make a creamy paste. For oily skin, make the cream with equal parts of dried and powdered orange peels and yogurt.
Scrub your armpits with your choice of exfoliating scrub for at least five minutes every alternate day to begin with. You can switch to making this a weekly routine once the immediate problem is solved. Chop a tomato into two and rub over the affected areas in circular motions for at least 15 minutes. You can also use aloe vera gel the same way. The juice of one raw grated potato will bleach the skin gently. Cucumber juice will also have the same effect. Keep your armpits moisturized at night in order to keep the skin fresh and supple.
