The main benefit of using home remedies to remove sun tan is that they don’t have any harmful side effects unlike the commercially available fairness products. Similarly another one of the home remedies for tanned skin is to mix together some honey and lemon juice which can then be applied on ones face on a regular basis for best results against sun tan.
One of the popular and effective home remedies methods on how to remove sun tan from hands is to prepare a paste of some raw or unboiled milk, turmeric and some lemon juice. This mixture should then be applied on the skin and be allowed to remain till it dries up. Thereafter, it should be washed with some cool water. Similarly one of the natural treatments for tanned skin is to prepare a mixture of oats and buttermilk. Home remedies for tanned skin on the hands as well as other parts of one’s body also involve mixing together some gram flour, lime juice and some curd. This mixture should be applied on the affected area on a regular basis for best results. Some people are also known to have dark patches on skin mostly on their knees and elbows. Hence while moving out of the house in the sun, one should always wear some protection from the sun which could be in the form of a hat or even some sunscreen. A natural sunscreen could be prepared at home by mixing together some sesame oil, almond oil and olive oil. This mixture should be applied generously on ones neck and face and other areas of the body that are exposed and prone to tanning. Thereafter one may wash this mixture off by using a bathing soap that is mild and some lukewarm water. In most cases, tanning tends to occur because of the presence of melanin in ones skin cells which protects the skin from getting burnt for the ultraviolet rays of the sun. This action of the melanin results in a temporary darkening of the skin. One of the simplest home remedies for tanned skin is to make thin slices of a raw potato and place these slices on the tanned skin. Raw potato is known to be highly effective in improving ones skin tone as well as getting rid of a tan.

Tips to get rid of a tan at home Aloe vera gel is an excellent remedy for taking care of dark tans. It will lighten the skin in as little as a week, if applied everyday to the affected area. However, aloe has the property of making your skin photosynthetic and can darken it is you go out in the sun without sunscreen lotion. This makes it important to remember to use sunscreen every time you go out. A cream with equal parts of milk powder, lemon juice, honey and almond oil can be applied and left on for 20 minutes. This will help lighten your tan. You can store this for about a week and use it thrice daily.
Apply a paste made with turmeric powder and lime juice thrice a week. This will lighten the skin colour considerably. Make a juice of one raw potato and apply this to lighten tans. Soak almonds overnight and grind them into a fine paste the next morning. To this, add equal quantities of milk cream and apply to your hands. Another paste you can make and apply is powdered oatmeal, yogurt, a few drops of lime and tomato juice. Wash this with cold water after half an hour. Keep in mind that all of these remedies will take at least a week to show positive results.
