Heel Pain Home Remedy

by Sharon Hopkins
People always want to do things that seem to them like healthy but instead end up having painful repercussions. In the same way, walking or jogging done in an incorrect manner could lead to painful heels that can be excruciating. Pain in the heels prevent people from going about their day to day activities and also prevents them from even participating in any recreational activities or sports.

Mostly this pain is a result of a poor posture, wearing shoes that are not comfortable to the feet, obesity or an abnormal walking style. The heel bone is one of the largest bones in the body and pain in the heels can occur in the front, middle or back portions. The major reason, although, is due to the muscles above the heel bone, known as the plantar fascia that get exerted.

This is a tight band of muscles placed right beneath the arch of the foot and it is the inflammation of the connecting tissues in the plantar fascia that is the major reason for heel pain. Although there are remedies to heal the pain, if the pain does not seem to subside, it is recommended that a good doctor be consulted for further treatment.

Considering the amount of pressure put on the heels during the day, the best treatment for painful heels hovers around relieving any kind of stress in the muscles around it. It is recommended that while sitting or relaxing at home, never cross the feet and try to keep it elevated as much as possible. Heel pain home remedies include rolling an ice pack over the affected area as it can reduce the pain by a dramatic margin. It also helps in reducing any kind of swelling, inflammation or any kind of burning sensation in the heels. Alternatively the feet can be soaked in warm or cold water to relieve stress off the heels. Apart from these remedies, the important thing to remember is to keep any kind of pressure off the heels. One should limit their activities and give the feet, more importantly the heel extended rest. If this pain occurs regularly, exercising can help to keep the weight off the heels since obesity tends to heighten stress on the heels. However, most of all you need to remember to work in a correct posture so that unnecessary weight is lifted off the heels as an incorrect posture is the leading reason behind painful heels.
