My eyes become blood shot after taking Hasish. I smoke once month. When I was regular this problem never occurred. Can you tell me the remedy to avoid this effect.

When you smoke Hasish or Marijuana, the pressure in the eyes decreases and the flow of blood increases. The arteries that are there in the eye-ball expand and make the eyes look absolutely red. If this happens to you, then you can quit the habit altogether. This way, you’ll never get blood shot eyes. However, if you find your eyes to be red and puffy, then here are some home remedies to help you get through.

  • Relax your eyes and close them for sometime. A siesta or nap might help. You can slice a cucumber and place a slice each on the eyelids. Rest for sometime and see if it has improved.
  • Black and green teas are known to work well on puffy and eyes. Tea with caffeine is known to constrict the blood vessels, which further reduces the swelling. Steep a couple of tea bags in hot water for a few short minutes. Let the bags cool before placing them on your eye lids. Cover your eyes with a soft cloth. When you open your eyes, you’ll feel much better.
  • This might seem funny, but two cool spoons from your cutlery drawer can make a difference to your puffy red eyes. Place them on your closed eyelids and enjoy the cooling sensation. You can place the spoons in the fridge and use them again for this cooling exercise.
  • Whip up two egg whites and apply some below your eyes to reduce the puffiness.
  • Pick up a potato, wash it and grate the spud. Place this in a clean cloth and make a poultice, which you can apply over your eyelids. Keep your eyes closed for 15 minutes for relief.
  • Splash some cold water into your eyes. Cold water often perks up tired or puffy eyes. And if you have red eyes, it might help cure the redness. Cold water will also constrict your blood vessels. Repeat this a few times a day.
  • This is a common but important advice. Drink a lot of water through the day. Keep your body hydrated and flush out the Hasish in your body. Enough water in the body prevents the eyes from becoming puffy.
  • Mix some salt in warm water. Dip cotton wool in this mixture and place it on your eyelids. Rest for a while to get relief.
  • Massage your eyelids gently with your finger tips.
