What happens if you do not have fruit or vegetable at all?

The main function of fruits and vegetables is to provide the important element of fiber in our diet. But this is not the only function of fruits and vegetables. There are also various nutritional needs that are met with consumption of fruits and vegetables. They have a multitude of nutrients that are an important part of the diet. A good mixture of all fruits and vegetables is important to provide various types of nutrients to your body. Most yellow and orange colored fruits and vegetables are very rich sources of vitamin A. Consuming carrots, pumpkin, squash and so on are excellent ways to boost your intake of these nutrients. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, collard greens and mustard greens are also excellent sources of iron and Vitamin K. You should also include fruits such as bananas in your diet for they provide the rare mineral potassium. Raw bananas are also an excellent source of choline, which is not a commonly found nutrient, but is needed by the body. Vegetables such as potatoes also provide starch, which is essential for carbohydrates and iron as well. A lesser known fact about bananas is that the peels are rich in iron. Apart from this, most fruits are also very high in natural sugars, which are required for the normal day to day functioning of the body.

However, the most important function that fruits and vegetables fulfill in our diet is to provide fiber for roughage. Fiber is what adds smoothness to human stools. It is required for comfortable and easy bowel movements, as opposed to hard and difficult stools. This is primarily why you should always include a healthy amount of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. If you are suffering from constipation or the common problem of hard stools, you are better off taking fruits than you would be if you took chemically formulated fiber. Moreover, fruits are also extremely low calorie foods and can be extremely useful as snacks if you are trying to shed serious weight. A healthy intake of vegetables such as cabbage, mushroom, peas, rhubarb, broccoli and avocado is also extremely useful if you are suffering from any sort of thyroid problem. Likewise, there is a vast variety of problems of a similar kind that can be taken care of by making a good and healthy intake of fruits and vegetables part of your daily diet planning and routine.
