I have mouth (tongue) ulcers. Suggest me home remedies?



Mouth ulcers or canker sores are basically small white spots that manifest themselves on tongue or the inner lining of the cheek and sometimes even in small clusters on the inner side of the lips. Mouth ulcers are basically caused by excessive consumption of spicy, acidic and fried food, Vitamin D deficiency, viral infections or even a cut or minor injury of the oral cavity.  Mouth ulcers can cause immense pain and also lead to bad mouth odor. If you have mouth ulcers it also becomes difficult to eat or drink anything, and thus it is essential to treat them as fast as possible. Luckily there are several home remedies which help to treat mouth ulcers quickly and without unnecessary expense. In order to treat mouth ulcers naturally, you should immediately alter your diet and avoid all spicy and greasy food, hot tea and coffee which can aggravate the ulcers.

The most basic remedy for mouth ulcers is gargling with hot and cold water alternately to treat the infection and soothe the pain. Chewing on 4 to 5 leaves of basil and following it by drinking a glass of water twice a day, morning and evening helps to prevent the bad mouth odor and also treats the mouth ulcers. Another good home remedy for mouth ulcers is boiling 1 cup of water with 1 tsp of coriander seeds and using this water to gargle 3 to 4 times daily. Simply gargling twice a day with your regular mouthwash is also beneficial in getting rid of the bad odor and preventing mouth ulcers. You can mix hydrogen peroxide and water in the ratio of 1:1 and apply it on the ulcers using a cotton ball. This is very effective in treating the ulcers. You can also apply peppermint oil on the ulcers for an effective home remedy. A traditional home remedy for mouth ulcers involves application of a paste of turmeric powder and glycerin on the ulcers. Application of the paste of the bark of Indian gooseberry mixed with honey or just paste of the fruit of the plant is very good for treating mouth ulcers. For a quick and easy solution you can simply apply your toothpaste on the ulcers. Drinking mulberry juice and even tomato juice daily is said to be very beneficial for mouth ulcers. You can also try massaging your gums with a mixture of honey and coconut milk thrice a day to treat and prevent mouth ulcers.
