In order to successfully fight Tinea Versicolor, it is essential to know exactly what it is as well as what causes it. Tinea Versicolor is a fungal infection caused by a certain type of fungus that lives in all human beings. This is a fungus which affects some people by causing small spots to appear on the skin. Why this ailment affects some people and leaves others out is not particularly known. There seems to be no reason for this, the process appearing quite random. The spots that appear will be somewhat red in color and will not really be raised, or cause any kind of itching or discomfort normally. However, sometimes, itching as well as burning can accompany this. The spots are normally seen on the torso as well as the face. Usually, this is a recurrent condition. It is also quite harmless. For most part, it goes away by itself. But in some cases like yours, it could stick on stubbornly for long periods of time. One of the fastest and best remedial measures to get rid of Tinea Versicolor is to apply a selenium sulphide based shampoo to your spots. You should use the shampoo as your body wash. It should also have a decently high concentration of the chemical mentioned. While anti dandruff shampoos do contain this chemical, it is very low in percentage. Usually, you need to examine the shampoo closely and check out the percentage of selenium sulphide as well. Try some shampoos that are specifically targeted towards getting rid of lice for this purpose. Usually, these are the shampoos which have the highest concentration of this chemical and are also the most highly effective.

There are very few natural remedies available for this problem. It is a fungal infection and this can actually be gotten rid of using yogurt quite effectively. Remember that this process will take time but will always have permanent results. You can include large quantities of yogurt in your diet. You can also use fresh and unflavored yogurt to apply on your spots. This may be of great help. In fact, some people note that the problem disappears altogether with this application. You can also make and apply a paste of one part each of sandalwood powder, turmeric powder and clarified butter to the spots you have. This will also help to remove them as well as heal the skin to a very large extent.
