My 3 year old son might have acid reflux. What are the symptoms that I should be watching for?

The symptoms of acid reflux can be observed in children after the age of 3 months. Vomiting or spitting-up frequently, refusing or picking on food, weight loss and poor weight gain, runny nose, sore throat, wheezing, night-time cough, frequent waking, frequent ear infection or dry cough are some of the symptoms that you should watch out in your child for a sign of acid reflux.

Give your son to drink coconut water everyday. He can drink 1 or 2 glasses of it. See that he drinks plenty of water during the day. You can give him lukewarm water to dink if he is co0operative.

Avoid using too many spices for cooking and do not give him too many citrus fruits for the time being.

Divide his meals into 5 or 6 smaller ones and never let him overeat. Do not let him be hungry for a long period of time and never force-feed. But talk to him and explain to him the importance of eating correct food regularly.

Check with him frequently for any change in the above mentioned symptoms and consult your doctor immediately if you find that natural cure is not able to provide relief from the symptoms of acid reflux.
