The best way to manage hemorrhoids is through making changes in your diet and lifestyle. Standard medication is not known to help much with curing the problem. Most of the time surgery is recommended in severe case. But before going for surgery there are several measures that you can take to curtail the problem which may make surgery unnecessary.

The primary thing is to regulate your bowel movements and make sure that you don't have to strain too much while passing them. You can ensure this by getting enough fiber in your diet and by taking certain other measures which I am listing below. Also listed below are measures to ameliorate the discomfort and pain associated with piles

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Apply petroleum jelly to the outer area.
  • Reduce your spicy food intake
  • Try and walk around for a bit whenever you have to sit for an extended period of time
  • Moisten toilet paper before using it
  • Sit in a warm bath with your knees raised for 15 minutes at least 3 times a day.
  • Do not lift heavy objects wherever possible.
