It is great that you have decided to quit smoking. This perhaps is the toughest step to take for most people who are trying to quit. Looking at the health hazards that smoking presents, it is best to quit. The first thing that you need to do is to prepare yourself mentally. It seems that you have already decided that you want to quit. Stick to your resolve and try to fight all the temptations or negative thoughts. It is going to be difficult. You perhaps already know that. The trick is to keep going no matter what. Make a list of all the reasons that made you decide to quit. Read this list every night before you go to sleep and every morning as soon as you wake up. Think about your health and your family to whom you are obligated. Join a fitness programme. It is probable that you could have neglected your health and if you need to quit smoking now, you will need to have the stamina to be able to resist the urge. Rest a lot and try to prevent fatigue as much as you can.
Set yourself a target. If you want, you can pick up a special date like a birthday or anniversary. Stick to your target date and do not push it. If you have decided you’ll quit on a particular day, give your hundred percent to achieve that. Make your expectations real. Once you start reducing your cigarettes, you will start experiencing withdrawal symptoms. However, these are temporary and you shouldn’t bother about them too much. You might experience sudden fluctuations in weight; let them be. Most relapses occur after one week of quitting and if you want to keep away, the best thing is to stay strong during that first week.
There are many other situation triggers that might tempt you to give in to stress and pick up a cigarette again. It is time then to call on a friend. If your spouse smokes too, ask them to quit with you. If they don’t smoke, ask them to inspire you and motivate you when you’re struggling with your will power. Switch your brand to one that you find distasteful. Slowly start cutting down the number of cigarettes you smoke. When you smoke a cigarette, smoke only half of it. Also, stop buying cigarettes in packs. Buy just one at a time. Each time you buy one cigarette, donate the same amount of money that you spent to a charity.

Most important is join a smoking cessation program. Blue Cross/Blue Shield has a free program that offers free patches and a counselor. If needed get a prescription for wellbrutin, it helps along with patches, gum, etc. Drink lots of water whenever you can, chew gum, suck on candies (sugarless)and try to remove yourself from smoking situations until you feel comfortable being around them again.

Alot of people need assistance in the cessation of smoking.
I would reccomend Acupuncture which has a very good track record of helping people get off cigarettes.
You can also go to your local health food store and ask for some supplements that are specific for people detoxifying from cigarettes.
Drink alot of water to flush it out along with fresh pressed juices such as carrot-apple-beet, etc.... Keep your diet clean from junk foods, consume alot of organic fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds to nourish yourself during this time and in general.
Good Luck and don't give up you will be so much healthier without cigarette smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
