Your mentioning the drugs that you are taking is a good clue to the kind of high blood pressure that you are facing. The first drug that you mentioned is also called acetylsalicylic acid is a common painkiller and anticoagulation agent. Simvastatin is a drug that is used to control your cholesterol levels when they are too high. This would indicate that your high blood pressure might not be too severe but that your doctor has concerns for your heart. Since the condition of having high cholesterol – hypercholesterolemia – is usually connected to being overweight, this shows a way to using home remedies for your benefit.

High blood pressure or hypertension is a problem that could indicate vascular constriction, high density blood, and increased blood volume. You would have to attack all these three problems together. The first part of vascular constriction is a problem that can be associated with stress. Stress releases hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. These will increase the blood pressure and place stress on the heart to pump more blood around the body to cope with the stress. Humans translate everyday stress as a sign of danger and to ready the body for the fight or flight response, adrenaline is secreted to give an immediate rush of energy. This can damage the heart if the stress goes on for too long. High blood density is primarily a problem of having too much salt and other minerals that the kidney is not able to excrete in adequate quantities. This is compensated with more water being absorbed in the blood to hold the balance causing a high blood volume. Therefore, you must drink more water and remove all excessive salt from your diet and perhaps to the point of having none at all.

Treating your condition with home remedies must start with exercise to tone up your vascular system. Your diet should completely change to a vegetarian one with just low-fat dairy products. Next, increase your intake of garlic as this helps reduce blood pressure and cholesterol in the body. There are some herbal remedies that you can take for reducing blood pressure like hawthorn but consult with your doctor first before doing this. Finally, increase the amount of phytosterols in your diet, as this displaces cholesterol in the body. This can be done by cooking only in vegetable oils and specifically olive oil. Increase your potassium intake with more tomatoes and bananas in your diet.

Advice for High Blood Pressure

A useful remedy to treat high blood pressure is to mix onion juice and honey in equal quantities. Take this mixture for about a week, and subsequently use the remedy as needed. This remedy is effective as onion juice has been found to reduce cholesterol levels and works as a stimulant for the nervous system. It also helps in the regulation of heart beat, cures insomnia, cleans the blood, and aids the digestive system, while the honey helps soothe the nervous system. In terms of maintaining a lifestyle, you should exercise daily (but avoid overexertion), avoid getting your self into stressful situations, and try indulging in a hobby of some kind.

Your diet also plays an integral part in regulating your pressure, so try avoiding the consumption of salt as much as possible, eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, and consume foods that are rich in folates (Vitamin B). Make sure that you consume a liter of water or more daily, but not chlorinated water. Although it is possible to use home remedies to treat your blood pressure, since you are already on medication for a month it is very important that you consult your physician about some of these suggestions before you try any of them out.
