What Are the Symptoms of Depression?

Depression if a form of mental disorder which involves our moods and thoughts.



It affects our body functions, our feelings and conceptions and disturbs our eating ad sleeping patterns. But it cannot be taken as a weakness and it cannot go away by just wishing so. Without proper treatment the symptoms can last for months and it is difficult for patients to come out of it.



Depression medication includes psychotherapy and anti depression medicines which can sometimes cure the depression symptoms in a patient.

The degrees of severity vary from patient to patient and not all of them go through similar symptoms. Teen depression is increasing very rapidly and with the passing of time, many symptoms go away and new ones develop. Patients of depression generally remain sad and dull.



They might retreat into their shells and not interact with anyone. Anxiety and depression are generally seen in most of the patients. At times they complain of a feeling of emptiness of thoughts and a blank mind.



They are assailed with hopelessness, helplessness, pessimism and worthlessness. They feel guilty for almost all their actions. They lose interest in hobbies and refrain from any physical relationship with the spouse.



There is the presence of feelings of fatigue, restlessness and irritability. They also get the urge to commit suicide though they feel quite slowed down in performing any acts like making decisions, concentrating on any task or in remembering anything. They become insomniac, either wake early in the morning or oversleep, lose their appetite and become overweight or lose excessive weight.



Depression causes constant headaches and develops digestive disorders or chronic pain.

People suffering from great depression tend to become maniac. The manic symptoms vary from excessive elation to increased sexual desire and inappropriate social behavior. The frequency, severity and duration of the symptoms of depression can ascertain the state of that the patient is in. At times, patients know the reason for their muddled feelings but this is not always the case. One incident may lead to the other and the symptoms may become a myriad of contributing factors. Such patients need immediate depression help to make them come out of it.
