What is Bikram yoga? Who started it?

Bikram Choudhary is the founder of Bikram Yoga which is also known as `Hot Yoga'.



Bikram yoga class is conducted in a room which has a humidity of 40% and a temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheight (40.5 degrees Celsius).There are 26 postures and two forms of breathing exercises in bikram yoga. Bikram yoga poses can be performed by people of all ages and at all stages of health as this is the beginners pose of yoga.



Bikram Choudhary lives in Beverly Hills, California and teaches at the Yoga College of India at Los Angeles. He also imparts hatha yoga techniques and lectures at Calcutta, India and in other parts of the world.



He visits other centers in various places like San Francisco, Tokyo, London and Paris. His book called `Bikram's Beginning Yoga Class' describes the above mentioned 26 postures and the two breathing exercises.

Bikram Yoga uses the simple technique of `Hatha Yoga' to perfect the bikram yoga breathing exercises.



It is the basic yoga which warms up the body, stretches the muscles and relaxes every joint in the body. With this exercise, there is a fresh inflow of oxygen and blood into different parts of the body.



Our body system works afresh and we feel like wholly transformed person. To facilitate the release of toxins and to prevent injury, it becomes necessary to perform `Bikram Yoga' in a hot room.



The bikram yoga benefits of practicing in the heated room and soon becomes transparent in the form of rejuvenated body and mind.
