Signs of Stress in Kids When stress starts to develop in children, there are certain stress symptoms which become prominent.
They undergo a subtle change which is not visible initially but it takes root very effectively. Children become prone to illness which can be treated but the root cause remains generally overlooked. This can be called symptomatic treatment but due to an underlying factor of residual stress, illness might recur.
If children fall sick constantly, they can develop allergy and eye strain. They will be prone to stomach or urinary tract infection. Excessive doses of antibiotics wash out their energy levels and they become timid, shy and difficult.
An increase in heart beats and pulse rates are common and this leads to outbursts of emotions. Their immunity level gets a jolt and their bodies start getting dependent on medicines. There are other critical signs of stress in children and the kids’ activities undergo a subtle change. Their sleep pattern is the most affected.
They sleep fitfully and some of the children also start getting nightmares. Due to this, they feel sleepy and irritable during the day. They also develop anger, stress anxiety and resort to throwing temper tantrum whenever they feel insecure, want their demands fulfilled or are caught doing misdeeds.
This child tantrum disturbs their eating habits and toilet routine. They may become nervous and completely refuse to participate in anything at all. Their interactions with others may reduce and they may even refuse to go to school.
They are constantly on the defensive and either overreact to situations or are fearful in the extreme. They have difficulty in adjusting to any kind of situation. They try and run away from any new and developing pattern in their lives. They become more and more maladjusted and retreat into their shell of trepidation. With the help of Yoga, children can regain their physical health and it will eliminate their insecurities and fear. This will help rebuild their self confidence and assure them of a progressive future. If children start practicing Yoga at an early stage, they can have no problems in adjusting to any situation or handling any circumstances while growing up. They will never develop physical stress or be overcome by mental stress of any level. |
