What Causes Stress in Kids

In today’s fast paced world everyone is in a rush to perform and deliver.



Children have also been caught in this whirlpool which is affecting their mental and physical health. The by product if this is stress among them. There are various causes of stress in kids.



To keep up with high standards, school syllabus has become vast and children are given loads of student homework. They have to take up tuition classes where they land up getting more homework. All the schools want their children to be top performers, so they take class tests almost every day of the week.



To keep up with this, children have to devote more time to their studies. This has reduced their outdoor activities and they are devoid of any exercise. This happens due to the fact that they have to catch up on sleep whenever they are not studying or learning something new.



They develop a kind of latent inertia and divert their energies towards video games. The violence shown in them instills a feeling of vengeance which germinates in their hearts and finally precipitates in the form of stress.

Parents expect their children to be the best, so they put them in various activities. There are also after school activities for kids organized in many schools which make it mandatory for children to participate in them.



All this over scheduling children tire them and they are hardly left with any free time. If they are not able to meet their parents’ and teachers’ expectations, they feel lacking and insecure. To gain approval they have to perform but if they lag, they feel left out which inevitably leads to stress.



This increases as time passes by and deteriorates their mental growth.

With so much to do, children have no time for recreation or fun and there is lack of activities for kids. They are always tied at home but away from relaxation. They have to answer their parents, teachers and come up to the expectations of the society. The time when the stress level shoots up to its maximum is when comparisons are made with their peers and they are found wanting. There are also other vital causes of stress in children which occur around the children like fights among parents, pressures of single parenting, divorce, abusive parents, constant shifting of houses, financial troubles and quarrels among siblings. To overcome all these problems and to remove stress in kids, children should be encouraged to do Yoga which leads to stress free living and better health.
