How Children Respond To Various Techniques

Parenting skills determine the nature, behavioral pattern and emotional security in children.

There are several learning techniques used in yoga exercises and these inform parents how to discipline children when they are in a group and to instill self disciplinary attributes in the young ones. Visualizing is one technique which lets children think what they are doing and why.

It also makes them give a name to the various forms that they have acquired and create a pose of their own. Thus, while they are performing, they are thinking and this stabilizes their thoughts and provides an outlet for their energies.

Their imagination is given a free sway and they are in their true mettle.

In school, children are taught yoga exercises with the help of interactive and mind games. They sing rhymes and songs individually and in groups and play group games.

They are coaxed into imitating anything into a posture and practicing it. They are taught through adapting animated postures, playing instruments, solving puzzles and riddles, coloring and drawing and having fun all the while they are practicing yoga exercises.

Narrating theme based stories to children give them ideas about voicing their feelings and giving shape to their dreams. These activities teach children discipline techniques and self control which forms the foundation of their character and personality.

They are taken out of the classroom for practicing so that they feel closer to nature and breathe in the fresh air.

At home, parents should keep a special time for children to perform yoga exercises. They should initiate them into starting with light exercises which can be built up gradually. They should keep a timer with them and the practice should be interspersed with inspiring incidences and imaginative ideas. There should also be a special space for them in the house, be it a small corner, where children can perform yoga exercises with their parents. This would not only prompt children into timing their practice but also develop disciplinary traits.
