Naturalist – Kids Yoga Exercises Revolve Around Outdoors and Animals

Yoga is the most natural form of exercise which not only brings us closer to nature but also makes us aware of such facets of life of which we were uninformed.



Till the time we start practicing these exercises, we remain in an ignorant world of self centered and physical attractions. Children are the beautiful gift of Mother Nature. They are closer to it than the grown ups are. It is our duty to integrate the teaching of nature into our children’s growing up pattern.



The most effective means to do this is through Yoga where the story book lesson is converted into real life happening.

When yoga postures were developed, the yogis were close to nature and they derived inspiration from it to develop various postures. As a result, we have animal and flower postures which when children imitate, they try to draw strength from the qualities of these creatures. They get a chance to feel like another living being and experience their feelings. Yoga for kids involves taking them out of the classroom and they perform exercises under the wide blue sky.



They are taken for hiking and shown how it correlates with yoga. It is a natural extension of yoga exercises. The salutation of the sun is an exercise which teaches children how to respect the elements of being. They are shown the flowering plants and birds around them.



Then they are made to imitate the postures of various animal and flowers of the Yoga exercises. They are taken to various trips to the museums and parks and described the various processes of living world. Several Yoga games involve performing exercises according to the nuances of the natural world. Kids enjoy the outer world as it gives them the opportunity not only to explore other living beings but also to feel closer to their surrounding.



These adventures help them to discover their hitherto hidden attributes and gain the confidence to build them up.

Their sensitivities are increased and they learn to give space to other creatures. This helps in making them complete individuals as they understand the truth about existence. Teaching yoga to children away from the constraints of classrooms and homes fills their senses with soothing thoughts and lends strength to their minds.



Under the yoga for children activities they are taken to zoos, aquariums and various yoga retreats. They are informed about the behavior of animals and their growth pattern and then this is practiced in the form of Yoga. Children do a lot of soul searching and gain inner strength.
