Benefits Of Yoga at Different Grade Levels

Health benefits of exercise are countless and they start right from the prenatal stage.



This not only benefits the mother but also her unborn child. New born babies can be administered light exercises for their growing bodies which stimulate their muscles, help in digestion and develop regular breathing pattern. They are less cranky and irritable during the day if they are given massage while being sung lullabies.



There are various grade levels of yoga for children to deal with stress activities like annual examination or solving mathematical problems. For children aged 1 to 5 years of age, yoga can be incorporated into children lesson plans. In between narrating stories and teaching lessons, yoga poses can be performed and the importance of the exercise be explained to them.



Songs for children, puppet shows and rhymes can also be included while performing exercises during fun filled inspirational classes. It perfects their sensory skills and increases their flexibility while all the time an inner peace and awareness takes root inside their hearts. Their minds become sharper and they grasp information quickly while it provides student aid to grade lesson plans according to individual suitability.



For children between the age of 4-6 year of age, emphasis is on breathing and relaxation techniques to encourage self expression and in building socials skills. They are promoted to do coloring and drawing of various poses and giving free reign to their imagination.

7-9 year olds learn coordination and better visualization through learning basic anatomy.



They are taught fun postures and group games which fosters self respect and respect for others. They learn to share and accept others without prejudice. 10-12 year olds are taught challenging poses and curving sequences to enhance self confidence and awareness which they can apply to real life situations.



In school, students grade improve and they become capable of handling stress. For teenagers, the main focus is on building internal and external strength. They are in a transition period between adolescence and adulthood, so exercises are taught keeping in mind their adjustment to puberty and boosting their self esteem.
