How Can Yoga Help Kids Relieve Their Stress

Yoga is not just exercising or flexing your muscles, it is a way of life.

It not only deals with physical and mental health but also spiritual health. Yoga is a very powerful tool of stress management. We can only achieve this by maintaining a fine balance between our senses and soul while dealing with stress.

This is especially very important for children as they are at the growing stage where they can be easily swayed in any direction. They can adjust and adapt to all kinds of situations with an aplomb which is rare in adults. And most importantly, they are vulnerable and at the very initial stage of life where the right qualities instilled and proper approach made towards life can make them strong and disciplined.

They can mould themselves in every cast and thus build a very healthy foundation for their lives.

Yoga meditation teaches children self discipline and consistency. It relaxes the muscles and calms the body so that the destructive characteristics like temper, fear, shyness and insecurities are overcome. This is done by regularly performing yoga which soothes the whole body while normalizing heart and pulse rates, bringing down the blood pressure, loosening the muscles and removing negativities which give birth to degenerating cells.

Even children who have no physical or behavioral ailments can practice Yoga as it helps in increasing immunity and enhancing concentration levels.

Stress in children is increasing at a very fast pace and it is imperative to provide them with stress relief. Half an hour of regular Yoga can make all the difference.

Children can be taught such Yoga poses like ‘Surya Namaskar’, ‘Pranayama Yoga’, ‘Hatha Yoga’, ‘Vajrasana’ and ‘Anulom Vilom’, which are easy to emulate and perform and are very effective. There are several Yoga benefits like regulating body temperature and breathing pattern, making children more patient and reducing stress in kids. Yoga helps in developing a positive outlook towards life, helps children in focusing on their studies and lets them perform various activities without getting overtired.

It increases their appetite and they are able to sleep deeply and contentedly. It is very helpful during examination times. Yoga regulates blood circulation and makes children more active.
