I must agree with Hog, as the guys in
Nam learned a warm shave followed by a cold rinse helps. On extreme cases try Dial soap not shave cream. The detergents in other soaps may aggrivate.

Razor Burn

As stated above, shave in the direction of your hair growth, but beware not all of your facial hair grows downwards. For example, 90% of my facial hair does grow downwards but the area on the front of my neck that leads up to my chin actually grows upwards (I think this is common among men) so I shave my entire face downwards and then only the area on the front of my neck upwards. After I started doing this I immediately saw and felt a dramatic reduction in my razor burn and bumps in that specific area.

Use exfoliating face cream such as apricot scrub. Scrub area before you shave and after. I usually do it the day after i shave- you can find it at walgreens and other drug stores

Razor Burns

Use hot water and exfoliate to get rid of dirt and dead skin. Use a pre-shave cream and a hot face towel (just like a barber shave). This serves to keep the pores open and relax the face muscles. Then apply a preshave oil as this will give you plenty of lubrication. Use a glycerin based shaving cream preferably non-scented. Most importantly forget everything you've ever known about razors. get rid of that 5 blade fusion they are designed so that you have to push down on your skin to get the hair off, and that lubricating strip is bad news, it reduces your ability to shave by feel. I recommend a safety razor. sometimes you gotta go old school. Worked for me. Follow with a cold water rinse to close the pores. followed by aftershave. this may take a few more minutes outta your morning but well worth it. Hope this helps.

I have found that using my Toms of Maine deoderant on the bikini area has cut down on the razor burn/bumps considerably.

Make sure you get a new razor out every 2 weeks, might sound to often, but razors dull fast. Also use a 2 blade razor instead of a 4 bladed one cause they cause more pressure to skin.
