Prevention and relief
suggested by Tessa
on Friday, September 14, 2007
Regular exercise prevents menstrual cramps. If you experience cramps, put a hot water bottle on your abdomen. If that still doesn't help, take a pain reliever. Tylenol (500mg) works best for me.

Have found that taking blueberry juice a week before beginning the menstrual cycle lessens the flow and time and helps with the cramps. Drink a cup of blueberry juice and eat blueberries every morning for a wee.

My midwife suggested that I drink red raspberry tea daily to reduce the amount of blood loss directly after the birth of my daughter and for the time following, as my body healed. I find that if I drink the tea daily my normally very heavy flow is reduced to almost nothing.

My daughter suffered from severe cramps for years until she started taking 50 mg Pycnogenol (an antioxidant) each day. The second month after starting it, her cramps were GREATLY reduced. She used to spend the first day of her period in bed each month. Now she's able function normally.

My cramps become worse when using tampons, so use pads when ever possible.
On the first 3-4 days of period take 400 milligrams of Ibuprofen with a glass of milk in the morning.
Don't over sleep or stay in bed too long, yes I understand that you are unbelievably tired, but the more you're moving the better.
Bananas and milk are your fried eat and drink a lot of them to reduce pain.
