Art Therapy If you decide to define art, the basic definition that would come in your mind is the creativity.
Creativity generally arises out of imagination in one’s mind. This creativity helps us quite a lot in emoting what all we are feeling. If you are in a good mood and decide to paint, it would no doubt be about something happy and welcoming, however if you are not in a good mood, then the subjects which you will choose for painting will be varied but rarely something happy.
This is why art therapy is used; art therapy helps the psychiatrists in understanding some of the basic problems of a person and also helps to solve these problems. Art therapy involves colors, paints, brushes, clay, pencils, and etc. everything that helps a person remove all the emotion out of his mind and put them into something else.
You will find that after putting all the confusion and frustration out of your mind on paper or in some way or the other people with living difficulties feel lighter. There is another advantage to this the doctor is able to diagnose the extent to which this person is so disturbed.
This therapy has been in use for many years.
It has been found out that people who have not responded to talking and expressing have responded well to art therapies. The reason behind this being the patient is able to express his feelings in art form better and faster than putting the trouble in words. Again sometimes, the patient might be experiencing emotions such as embarrassment or might feel incommunicative; art therapy programs remove all these impediments in the pathway of diagnosis of this patient.
Art therapy programs have been used for several people from different backgrounds. These have been used for people with post traumatic disorders, for children undergoing change in their daily routines like being put for adoption, by those who are suffering from serious diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and even people who have participated sometime in war use art therapy as a way to vent their emotions and stress.
Art form also helps in boosting confidence and feeling of importance in those who are unwell since a good art form is definitely appreciated. This is the reason why art therapy is being called quite successful method of solving problem of the people in distress.
Sometime what cannot be said in words can be put into colors, shapes, designs, patterns, etc.
