Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer is one of the most common cancers that happen to men, especially those aged 15 years to 34 years.

World data show that the cancer is more prevalent and common among white men than in black men. The reason for this observation and fact, however, is not yet fully and scientifically determined.

Testicular cancer is not widely publicized. Although more and more men are contracting the disease, not all of them are open to talking about the disease in public.

It can be out of public embarrassment, but men with the cancer often advise their doctors and surgeon to keep the medication and condition highly confidential and kept secret. The society understands the real reason. Men usually are not comfortable being somehow emasculated and for them, doing something like surgical removal or modification can be a great source or masculine embarrassment.

Testicular cancer symptoms

Testicular cancer is usually indicated by a lump or somehow an enlargement that is evident in the testicles. The patient usually feels a scrotal mass in either of his testicles.

Aside form that, there is also some pain and some feeling as if there is a certain heaviness in any part of the scrotum.

There is also an abrupt accumulation of fluid that is evident and can be felt in the scrotum. Like any form of cancer, there is insomnia, a drastic loss in weight and unexplained fatigue. The testicular cancer may not necessarily affect both testicles, but the cancer cells may spread rapidly across all other areas of the body if it remains untreated.

Self examination

You need to regularly conduct a self-administered examination if you want to make sure you are free from the condition.

You need to see the signs of the cancer as early as possible before it is too late. To conduct the examination, you need to monitor for any sign of scrotal masses or lumps in the scrotum. Remember that the condition can worsen further if not properly given medical attention and aid.

To examine yourself for any possible onset of testicular cancer, it would be advised if you would take a warm water bath. After the bath, you should stand in front of the mirror and proceed to the self examination.

To do this, simply grab one testicle using the index and middle finger. Run the fingers all around to sense any mass accumulation. The testicle is normally smooth to the touch. When it becomes rough and masses are sensed, then take note and regularly check if the mass is growing over time or is becoming painful.

If so, immediately seek medical attention.

Treatment

Going to your urologist would be the best and primary treatment. The doctor could recommend and conduct surgery at once. Chemotherapy and tse will also be advisable just like in any other form of cancer. Do not worry because not too many patients die of the disease. There is always a greater chance for survival, provided the diagnosis and treatment is done during earlier stages.
