Meglitinides that are available as repaglinide is useful for controlling glucose levels after meals. Precose and Glyset are alpha-glucosidase inhibitors that reduce the absorption of sugar in the digestive tract but can also lead to stomach/ bowel problems in some cases. Actos and Avandia are thiazolidinediones that increase the sensitivity of body cells to insulin.
These medications can be consumed independently or in a combination for diabetes cure as prescribed by the doctor. Combination of medications are usually advised when the blood sugar levels are at an abnormally high levels so to immediately give treatment of diabetes more than one drug provides immediate effect.
It is important to note whether a particular drug has more than one than one advantage such as helping achieve low blood sugar along with weight control or lesser cholesterol. The cost of drug therapy is less when we compare to the future scenario of uncontrolled diabetes.
Insulin intake through injections is taken especially in case of type 1 diabetics and when the situation is out of control for type 2 diabetics insulin dosage becomes important. Treatment for diabetes should consider the shift/ change in blood sugar that is caused due to the diabetes medicines, other health conditions like high blood pressure, cost issues of the treatment, etc. However, diabetes treatment diet and regular physical activity by adopting a healthy lifestyle is what really helps in diabetes treatments for controlling the ill-effects of this disease.
