Ovarian Cancer |
Ovarian Cancer Exact cause of ovarian cause is unknown, it is noticed that this cancer is caused more in industrialized nations than in non-developed nation, with exception of Japan almost all developed nations have growing incidences of ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is caused mainly in ages 55-75, this cancer can affect younger women from the age 35 to 55 too, but chances of their recovery are more than those in older women.
Ovarian cancer also seems to be directly related to the number of children a woman has, women with higher child births are at lower risk or ovarian cancer than women with lesser child births. It is also being said that use of fertility drugs might be the cause of ovarian cancer too.
Another cause of ovarian cancer is also connected directly with milk consumption, women consuming more than one glass of milk per day are at a higher risk of this cancer than those consuming lesser or none at all, also women in sunnier countries have not known to get this cancer, this also explains its relationship with Vitamin D.
Ovarian cancer is malignant ovarian neoplasm, this is an abnormal growth in the ovaries, and this affects only women. Ovarian cancer tumors are different from each other germ cell tumors, sex-cord stromal tumors, surface epithelial-stromal tumors.
There are several ovarian cancer symptoms, vaginal bleeding, weight gain or weight loss, increased abdominal girth, increased gas, indigestion, bloody stool, bloating, etc. In case of germ cell tumors, pregnancy tests might come as positive even though there is no pregnancy. There are also symptoms like increase urination, excessive hair growth, etc.
Ovarian cancer is also known to be hereditary; those women who have family history of cancers like uterine cancer, colon cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, etc. are at a higher risk of developing this cancer than normal women.
Surgical removal of the ovarian cancer is the most preferred way to get rid of this cancer, the reason being that with surgical removal the chances of survival and the recurrence of cancer are higher than with any other treatment. Depending on the stage of the cancer, the doctor might prefer to combine two treatments like radiation therapy or chemotherapy depending on the stage of the cancer.
Ovarian cancer can be treated, however, most ovarian cancers are malignant therefore, there are chances that the cancer has already spread to other parts of the body before diagnosis, this will require complete search of the body for cancer and treatment for removal of the cancer.
