Common Health Issues that can lead to cancer

Do you sometimes wonder if common health issues relate to or can lead to cancer?
You might be interested to know that Oral Cancer affects around 30,000 Americans each year, and around 8000 deaths each year are attributed to Oral Cancer.

How does it all start? With ordinary tooth decay, and gum and bone disease or periodontitis, which are infectious diseases. Good oral care and regular visits to the dentist is absolutely essential in restoring these common ailments and preventing Oral Cancer. Good oral care includes regular brushing and flossing, good nutrition and eating habits, and no smoking. Above all, you should remember that ulcers and other lesions in the mouth are often indications of other diseases such as Diabetes, HIV, Kidney Disease, childhood diseases such as Chicken Pox and Measles, and many other diseases.

Obesity can lead to a host of diseases that in turn, can lead to cancer.

Here are a few:
  1. Gallbladder disease and gallstones.
  2. Kidney disease
  3. Liver disease.
  4. Bladder disease
  5. Diabetes
  6. Osteoarthritis
  7. High Blood pressure,
  8. High Cholesterol
  9. Arthritis

  12. Reproductive problems in women
Diet is thus an important factor in health. It is important that you find the right diet for you that will keep you healthy and keep your body weight down. For the same reason, exercise is as important as diet in keeping a balanced lifestyle and body weight.

Diets high in fats have been related to various forms of cancer, whereas a diet high in fiber reduces the risk of cancer. It is therefore important to keep your diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

We have already seen that infection, or the lack thereof, plays an important part in dental health. The same holds true for other infections or infectious diseases. Immunization against infectious diseases is therefore essential.

Normal infections after wound care, when untreated, can also cause problems. Immunizations during cancer treatments is discouraged, as cancer and its treatments suppress the immune system. It is therefore necessary that immunization takes place at the appropriate stages in a person’s life.

Do blood transfusions cause cancer? There seems to be a controversy in answers to this question. It ranges from “absolutely no risk” to “minimal risk” to “Women who received a blood transfusion are at an increased risk” according to the results of various studies.

People having past family history of cancer are more at risk and need to pay extra attention to their health and should be cautious of the factors which may cause the problem. Even the slightest of the sign should be taken seriously. Such people should get a regular health check up done.

The bottom line is to arm yourself with knowledge when it comes to prevention of diseases and to act on that knowledge. One also has to be responsible when dealing with common health problems, and make sure they are treated properly.

Failure to do so could lead to bigger problems, such as cancer.

Take care of your body by getting into healthy diet and enough exercise to avoid sickness. Remember, health is wealth.
