Food AllergiesFood Allergy, means a certain kind of food is not digested due to poor or absence of lactase[ an enzyme ] lining on small intestine.
The intolerance of food also gives allergic reaction.
Some times a certain kind of food have an unpleasant reaction to some people. So they often conclude it as an Allergy. So this is called as Intolerance to certain kind of food, When allergens food are consumed it gives reaction and show symptoms.
Unless consumed food does not show reaction or symptoms, one cannot call an allergic food.
Actually 2 to 3% of the adult population and 3 to 5 % of the children population has Food Allergy. An adult may not be allergic to the same food which was there in the childhood.
This is an abnormal reaction or response triggered by certain reaction of food in the immune system of body and then it is expressed by some kind symptoms. The normal Symptoms of Food Allergies are, initially the itching in mouth or difficulty in swallowing.
Then the problems like heavy breathing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hives or eczema and abdominal pains.
Allergic reaction due to food works when it resists the acid in the stomach or the intestinal digestive enzymes. So the allergens survive to cross the gastrointestinal line. The allergens are absorbed by blood and then enter the blood stream. When the allergens reach lungs it causes heavy breathing or asthma, if they travel through blood vessels causes light headedness, weakness or nausea and anaphylaxis - which means sudden drop in blood pressure, if they reach intestine vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pains.
The mechanism of food allergy involves immunity system.
Lactose [milk], eggs, and peanuts are the major players for allergy. Lactose is a major cause for food Allergy, especially among infants and children. It is intolerance or inability to digest Lactose [milk], and also Soya, soy milk or by-products.
It results in gastrointestinal symptoms. Lactose sugar is mixture of Glucose and galactose. So it is necessary to split lactose in to glucose and galactose.
The lining of intestine , which is an enzyme splits the lactose which increases the tolerance to digest.
High amount of non digestible of proteins are present in the peanuts and rest is containing the peanut milk. High consumption of nuts results into potentially fatal anaphylaxis, which can cause loss of consciousness or breathing problem.
Therefore, food allergies require to be treated with care. |
