Acute Renal Failure Causes

The safety of your internal organs is essential since they are responsible for keeping you protected from various types of medical problems.

When a problem with any of these organs occurs, you will be affected with health disorders. Among the most common problems that may develop are kidney stones and Acute Renal Failure. These two may affect your kidneys when you are not particular with your health.

You have two kidneys which are shaped like beans, and are about the same size with your fist.

These are found behind the upper part of your abdomen, with each situated at the side of the spine. These are included with the system that gets rid of your blood's waste materials and extra fluids. Each of your kidney is comprised of an estimated one million nephrons. At the same time, the nephrons consist of capillary blood vessels and small tubes which are connected to larger tubes.

The capillaries are the ones which are responsible with the filtration of fluid from the blood.

When there is a disruption with the process of filtration, you are likely to be affected with acute kidney failure. The causes of acute renal failure are categorized according to the where the affected part is, and how great is the problem.

Prerenal

This is among the well known causes of the kidney failure.

Generally, this is due to inadequate supply of blood to the kidney because of the following:
  1. Exceedingly low blood pressure – this may be a result of extreme bleeding, or bloodstream infection. It may also be caused by shock or dehydration which resulted to a drop to your blood pressure.
  2. Poor heart condition – when your heart does not function at its full capacity, the flow of blood to your kidneys is lessened. This condition may be due to heart attacks.

  3. Low volume of blood – when you experience extreme fluid loss, due to diarrhea or vomiting, your blood volume will lessen. This will, in turn, reduce the supply of blood to the kidneys.

Renal

These are conditions which affect the kidney structure and functions.
  1. Disorders which lessen the supply of blood – there are a lot of health disorders which lead to insufficient supply of blood to the kidneys.

When this occurs, your organs will get damaged, leading to kidney failure.
  2. Kidney inflammation – this will likely happen to you when you develop allergic reaction to a certain drug.
  3. Toxic injury – since your kidneys function by filtering toxins, they are prone to this condition.

Postrenal

This is generally associated with the obstruction of urine flow.
  1. Obstruction to the ureter – this may be due to kidney stones or intrinsic tumors.
  2. Obstruction to the bladder – this may be the cause of enlarged prostate, blood clot, or nerve disorder.
