What is High Blood Pressure?

Increasing the intake of bananas is believed to lower blood pressure. In fact, all fruits and vegetables that are rich in potassium will help in alleviating high blood pressure. Some of the other fruit and vegetables that should be consumed include baked sweet potatoes as well as boiled potatoes with their skin, spinach, dried apricots, cantaloupe, raisins, currants, and orange juice.



Vegetables that are rich in folate, such as beans, asparagus, and brussel sprouts, are also effective in lowering hypertension. Increasing the intake of calcium is also said to be good for those suffering from high blood pressure. Thus, low-fat milk and other such dairy products should be consumed regularly.



Fiber is another essential for reducing blood pressure. Including fiber-rich fruits and vegetables will help in lowering pressure levels in the body. Another helpful remedy when combating hypertension is to use polyunsaturated oils such as canola oil, safflower oils, or mustard oil for cooking.





For high blood pressure resulting from increased stress levels, the inclusion of celery in one’s diet will help considerably. Consume celery sticks on a daily basis to effectively reduce high blood pressure.

Fish oil is also regarded as being effective in lowering pressure levels. Thus, include fish such as tuna will help in the development of good cholesterol and reduce blood pressure.

When it comes to high blood pressure, there is no quick fix. Changes in diet and lifestyle as well as regular visits to your physician are necessary to cure hypertension.
