tooth nerve

Many a times people tend to accidentally break or chip a tooth whenever they bite into something that is too hard or even if they meet with an accident. This may result in the tooth nerve getting exposed which is very painful. The best solution in such cases to prevent the tooth from chipping further is to visit the dentist immediately. However one may also try some simple home remedies for tooth nerve pain before visiting the dentist. One of the most popular and effective home remedies for tooth nerve pain is to place a few drops of clove oil on the exposed nerve as this will minimize the pain. Temporary relief from the pain can also be gained by holding an ice pack against the affected area. This treatment tends to numb the nerve endings and hence suppresses the pain. Another natural way to deal with tooth nerve pain is to chop slices of fresh cucumber and hold them against the tooth nerve that is exposed. This will provide relief from the pain on account of the soothing and cooling effect of the cucumber. Similarly, a natural painkiller for tooth nerve pain is to boil some peppermint leaves in a cup of water along with half a table spoon of salt. This water should then be strained and consumed when lukewarm as it acts as a natural painkiller and is hence also recommended in case of headaches. Many times if a person’s tooth is almost completely gone, the dentist may also recommend a root canal as a permanent solution because an exposed tooth nerve or a dead tooth is known to be highly painful and if left unattended may also result in an infection. In cases where the tooth nerve is exposed on account of the tooth being chipped the dentist may also advise one to go in for restorative surgery which involves the use of dental crowns or fillings. Another home remedy for tooth nerve pain is to mix some lemon juice with asafetida powder to form a paste like consistency and then apply this paste after making it lukewarm on the affected tooth to help stop the pain naturally. Similarly, garlic and rock salt may also be mixed together and applied on the chipped tooth with the exposed nerve so as to provide relief from the pain. One may also follow some preventive measure for tooth nerve pain such as rinsing one’s mouth with salt water after each meal and before going to bed.
