sore eyes

The eyes are the pair of organs that convert the light around an individual into images which are processed in the brain. Eyesight is important for daily functions of an individual. The eyes have muscles within them that help to open and close the pupils depending on how much light is available to an individual. In dark conditions, the pupils are dilated. There are also muscles to turn the eyeballs in various directions so that the field of vision can be examined without moving one’s head. The eyes can move in four different directions and in a combination of any of these directions.

A person may feel sore eyes if the muscles of the eyes are overworked. This can happen when an individual has spent too much time in front of a computer or television screen. Studies have shown that exposure to conventional cathode ray tube televisions and computer monitors causes more eye strain than exposure to liquid crystal display screens. The continuous fixture of the eye on the screen can be responsible for sore eyes. An individual may also experience sore eyes if he or she is exposed to bright light for an extended period of time. Many people suffer from sore eyes and headaches during summer days when the intensity of the sun is high and they spend time outdoors. Sore eyes may also occur when the individual is ill with a condition that causes general body ache, such as fever.

There are many ways in which one can deal with sore eyes. A person suffering from sore eyes can try to sleep for some time. During sleep, the eyes get some rest and this rest may be useful for recovery from sore eyes. The individual may also spend some time in a moderately bright room rather than in a bright or dark room. During this time, relaxation activities may be performed. This can help with sore eyes. Some people also suggest that one should do eye exercises to help with sore eyes. This involves moving the eyes from left to right and from up to down. This can improve circulation in the eye muscles and help with sore eyes.
A good home remedy for sore eyes is the use of some sort of cooling pack over the eyes. One can wash one’s eyes with cool water to get some relief. One can also use sliced cucumbers on each eye as the eyelids are closed. This could be done with refrigerated cucumbers to enhance the cooling and soothing effect.
