how to get an oil balanced skin ?

The skin is affected by various factors such as sun exposure, climate, stress, dietary habits and illnesses. To practice proper skin care, you must first determine the type of skin that you have. This will help you determine the type of treatments that will suit your skin. You also need to know if certain products or cosmetics trigger allergic reactions on your skin. The skin can be classified into three types, oily skin, dry skin and combination skin. To determine your skin type, you can perform a blot test by taking a tissue and placing it on your skin. When you remove the tissue, if you see dirt and oil on it, then it means that you have oily skin. If the tissue remains as it is, then it means that you have dry skin. If the tissue becomes only slightly oily, then it means that you have combination skin. Once you are aware of the type of skin you have, you can then proceed to achieving oil balanced skin.

Skin that is either very dry or very oily needs extra care and attention. Dry skin tends to flake, and redness and soreness can also occur. Oily skin makes you prone to pimples, acne and other skin problems, as it tends to draw dirt and bacteria. As such you need to take the necessary steps to prevent excessive dryness and remove excessive oiliness from the skin. For dryness, you must moisturize your skin after every wash, as this is the time your skin is the driest. Even if you have oily skin, you still need to moisturize, but use a moisturizer that is especially suited for oily skin. Oily skin also requires deep cleansing, in order to remove the accumulated dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria that tend to clog the pores. For a combination skin, you will need to take care of the dry and oily areas accordingly.

To moisturize dry skin, an effective face mask is made with avocado. Take some ripe avocado and mash it. Then add to it some olive oil and mix well. This can be applied generously on the face and left on for half an hour, before rinsing. A nourishing mask that works well in balancing out the dry and oily areas of the skin is made by mixing rose water, honey and yogurt. Apply this and keep it on for ten minutes, before washing. For oily skin, you can make a face pack by blending half a cup of strawberries, one tablespoon of honey, one egg white and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this to the skin and rinse after ten minutes. Due to the strawberries and lemon, this pack has astringent properties which work well to clean out oily pores. In addition, you also need to consume plenty of water every day so that your skin remains hydrated and healthy.

Having balanced skin is very important especially if you're living in an extreme climate. But before getting to any treatments or remedies it is tremendously important for you to understand your skin type, what suits your skin, or what brings about allergic reactions to your skin. You can try a simple blot test at home to determine what kind of skin you have. Take a sheet of tissue and place it against your skin. If the tissue comes out with oil and dirt on it, then you have oily skin. If the tissue remains unchanged, you have dry skin. If the tissue is both a little dry and oily, it is an indicator of combination skin. Now that you have a better idea of what your skin type is, you should be able to achieve better oil balance for your skin.

There are a few treatments you can use at home to achieve oil balanced skin. It is always difficult to maintain skin that is either too oily or too dry. If you have very dry skin, it generally tends to look red and appears chaffed. If your skin is too oily then it is attracts dirt, bacteria, pores and acne, which result in spots, blackheads and blemishes. The basic idea is to clear your skin of excess oil or prevent dryness and keep it moist depending on your condition. One of the methods is oil cleansing. This method results in fresh skin, removing blackheads, pimples and blemishes. It is also important to clear out the dead cells and oil from your skin and bring out the new fresh skin.

You should make the remedies depending on the type of skin you have. For dry skin, you can also give yourself an enriching avocado mask. Mix olive oil with the flesh of ripe mashed avocado, and apply this to your skin. You can rinse off this mask after 20-25 minutes and moisten your face with a bit of orange blossom water. Similarly for oily skin, you can apply a healthy pack to the skin consisting of green mud, limejuice, tea bark oil and citrus essential oil. Leave this for about 15 minutes and wash off the area with lukewarm water. You can also use thin slices of cucumber soaked with a bit of cider vinegar. Apply this mask and rinse it off after 15 minutes. Water is a very essential part of keeping your skin hydrated and healthy and hence, ensure that you drink at least 8-10 glasses per day.
