scalp fungus

Fungus can grow in any part of the body – the foot or even the scalp. Scalp fungus is usually caused by ringworm. However there are different kinds of fungi that cause scalp fungus. Symptoms of scalp fungus include hair loss in patches, inflammation and constant intense itching. Here are some home remedies to help you deal with scalp fungus.
  • The first and most important thing to do is to get rid of any items that may have touched the area. Brushes, combs, barrettes, headbands or hats should all be got rid off. Even if you are using a hat to hide your condition, ensure that you wash it daily to prevent the fungus from spreading again. Also wash your linen every day. This will prevent the fungus from living on it.
  • Keep in mind that scalp fungus can spread from one person to another through contaminated objects. Keep your comb/hat and so on away from other members of the family. It is advisable for all members to have their own set of combs during this period.
  • Use raw papaya to treat the scalp fungus. Chop a raw papaya into small pieces and grind it to a paste. Apply this on your scalp and leave on for about half an hour. Wash off with shampoo. Do this every alternate day.
  • Wash your hair regularly with a good antifungal shampoo. Ensure that you dry your scalp well after this. Scalp fungus thrives in a damp environment. It is therefore also necessary to clean your scalp if you start sweating.
  • Soak 2-3 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds. Soak this in water for about 9 hours. Grind the seeds till they turn into a fine paste. Apply this paste to your scalp. Leave it on for an hour and then wash it off.
  • Invest in a bottle of Castor oil. Dampen a small ball of cotton with this oil and rub it all over your scalp. Use latex gloves when you are applying the oil to your scalp. Do this once a day for about 2-3 days. Wash your hair thoroughly and ensure that you leave no traces of the oil in it.
  • Mustard seeds also help in the treatment of scalp fungus. Take a cup of mustard seeds – grind this into a paste and apply it to your scalp. It should remain on for about 20-30 minutes. Wash off after this time period has lapsed.
You could use any of these remedies to treat scalp fungus or even consult a dermatologist and seek effective treatment.
